GETSCO sent a lot of gas and steam turbine technical advisors to work in Venezuela. Many went to the main industrial cities in the northern coastal areas including: Carcacas, Maracaibo, Valencia and Moron. When the office was moved from Caracas to Marcaibo (when a company called Servimeca was purchased by GE and renamed: Turbimeca), many TAs passed through Maracaibo.
This film by Creole Petroleum was mde in the mid-1950s but lots of guys from a decade or two later can relate. Many went to the second largest city in the country and on to such towns as Lagunias, as did this one traveling engineer in the film. Enjoy.
Dave Lucier (Area Engineer, Venezuela & Caribbean, 1971-73)
