Old Timer's Bar - Drinks for a Dime!

Document Actions
Ever get turned down for a raise from your service manager? Wonder why?

Three GE field engineers were walking down a street in Ft Myers, Florida. They turned a corner and saw a sign that read, "Old Timer's Bar - all drinks 10 cents."

They looked at each other and thought, why not? An old bartender called in a voice that carried across the room, "Come on in and let me pour one for you! What'll it be, gentlemen?"

They all ordered their pleasure and in a short time the drinks arrived.

"That'll be 40 cents each, please."

The field engineers stared at the bartender for a moment, then looked at each other. They couldn’t believe their good luck. One of them put two quarters on the bar and paid for the drinks including a 20 percent tip.

A while later, they order another round of drinks.

"That's 40 cents, please."

They paid for the drinks, but their curiosity was more than they can stand. They have each had ordered two mixed drinks and so far they've spent less than a dollar. Finally one field engineers asked, "How can you afford to serve mixed drinks as good as these for a dime apiece?"

"I'm a retired tailor from Boston," the bartender said, "and I always wanted to own a bar. Last year I hit the Lottery for $25 million and decided to open this place. I wanted a retro-type bar where every drink costs a dime: wine, liquor, beer. All the same price."

Wow!!!! That's quite a story," said one of the men. The three guys finish their second round when someone noticed four other guys at the end of the bar without beverages. “What’s with those guys?"

The bartender replied, "Oh, they're retired GE service managers. They're waiting for Happy Hour, when drinks are half price."
